Eternatus is more than just a raid opponent—during the upcoming Dark Skies event, its signature move, Dynamax Cannon, brings a game-changing Adventure Effect into play. This mechanic temporarily enhances your Pokémon’s Max Moves by one level in Max Battles, but it comes with a steep Stardust and Candy price tag.

Here’s how it works and what it means for trainers heading into Go Fest: Max Finale.

What the Dynamax Cannon Effect actually does

When Eternatus uses Dynamax Cannon, it can trigger an Adventure Effect that elevates your Pokémon’s Max Move level by one tier for ten minutes. Locked Max Moves jump to Level 1, while fully trained Level 3 Moves boost to Level 4 offering noticeably higher output or resilience.

That boost doesn’t end there it can be extended in ten-minute increments, up to a full 24 hours. But each extension requires another 5,000 Stardust and 30 Eternatus Candy. Only one Adventure Effect can be active at a time, so choosing this boost means shelving any others for the duration.

Strategy and resource impact

This effect shines in Max Battle scenarios where every edge counts. A single-level upgrade on a Max Move can tip the scales, especially in tight solo or small-group encounters. Yet even a short 10-minute window requires resource investment that may make it impractical for frequent use.

To make the most of it, timing is critical. Activating it right before a hard-hitting Max Battle, and planning caffeine bursts of performance, could give players an edge. Those tracking Eternatus Candy and Stardust availability will need to weigh the potential gains against the resource drain.
