Pokémon GO is keeping the momentum going during its Tales of Transformation event with the return of Dialga to five-star raids. The Legendary Dragon/Steel-type has long been a favorite in both PvE and PvP thanks to its unique typing and powerful moves. Its comeback adds another layer to an already packed event lineup.

While Dialga has appeared in raids several times before, each return gives players another chance at a strong IV version or a shiny encounter. Its distinctive teal-and-silver design and strong utility make it one of the most sought-after Legendaries in the game’s roster.

Dialga’s Role in the Current Meta

Dialga stands out because it’s the only Dragon-type that resists Dragon-type moves, making it a top pick in Master League battles. Its signature move, Roar of Time, hits incredibly hard and can turn the tide in raid battles when paired with Metal Claw or Dragon Breath.

Outside of PvP, Dialga’s combination of typing and stats makes it a solid raid attacker against Fairy-weak or Rock-weak bosses. Its tankiness allows it to stay in the fight longer than many other glass-cannon dragons.

Counters and Raid Team Planning

Challenging Dialga still requires coordination, especially if you want to clear raids quickly. Ground, Fighting, and strong Fire types are your best bets for damage output. Popular counters include Terrakion, Groudon, and the ever-reliable Mega Blaziken for a boost to fellow Fire attackers.

The battle difficulty remains manageable with a good group, but soloing is out of the question. Pairing up with remote or local players will make farming multiple raids far easier.

Timing and Availability

Dialga’s presence in raids is tied to the Tales of Transformation event schedule, meaning its window is limited. Those looking to fill a Pokédex entry or hunt for the shiny form will want to pay attention to local raid hours to maximize encounters before it cycles out again.
