  • Dungeons of Eternity Heads to PC VR with Visual Upgrades and Cross-Play Support

Dungeons of Eternity, the cooperative VR dungeon crawler that launched on Meta Quest last year, is officially headed to PC VR. This version isn’t just a port — it’s being rebuilt for PC hardware, with upgrades to lighting, textures, and overall fidelity.

The core gameplay will stay the same: action-focused dungeon runs with up to three players, where physics-based combat and randomized layouts drive replayability. What’s different now is how that experience will look and feel on more powerful setups.

Visuals Get a Full PC Treatment

On Quest, the game focused on delivering performance-friendly environments, with stylized visuals that kept things readable and responsive. The PC VR version shifts that balance by leaning into more detailed assets and dynamic lighting, all while maintaining the game’s original art direction.

The goal seems to be fidelity without overcomplication. Expect sharper shadows, improved environmental effects, and better material rendering, especially on things like armor, weapons, and dungeon interiors. Early footage shows a noticeable bump without straying too far from the original tone.

Full Cross-Play with Meta Quest

The PC version won’t split the player base. Cross-play with Meta Quest is confirmed, and the devs have said the experience is staying consistent across platforms. That includes all current content — story mode, procedurally generated levels, and co-op functionality — with no visual downgrade for Quest players in mixed lobbies.

This approach mirrors what other VR titles like Walkabout Mini Golf and Demeo have done: focus on a single design philosophy, then scale visuals up or down depending on hardware. It’s a practical choice for multiplayer longevity, especially in VR where active user bases are still growing.

No Date Yet, But Beta Testing Is Coming

There’s no release date yet for the PC VR version, but the developers are prepping for testing and optimization. VR ports often run into performance or UI quirks when transitioning to PC, so a beta period makes sense. It also gives them a chance to stress-test cross-play in live conditions.

The move to PC isn’t surprising, especially for a co-op game that benefits from wider reach. Dungeons of Eternity already carved out a space in the Quest ecosystem, but the PC release opens it up to users on headsets like Valve Index, HTC Vive, and others looking for meatier VR co-op games.

Whether the player base shifts toward PC or stays centered on Quest will likely depend on performance and community support post-launch. Either way, the cross-platform push shows a longer-term strategy for the game — not just a single-system experiment.
