OverKnights, the strategic card battler that lets you build and battle customizable mech-robots, is rolling out a new competitive phase called the Crystal Fragments Season. Running from early September to mid-November, this isn’t about grinding, rather, it’s about playing smart, earning fragments, and stacking rewards.

The event unfolds as a play-to-airdrop (P2A) format: complete daily and weekly quests, gather fragments, and convert them into airdrop tickets. On top of that, leaderboards reward precision and persistence with additional prizes.

Mech-Battler Meets Blockchain Mechanics

At its base, OverKnights blends card combat with robot assembly, where each deck and mech builds toward a cinematic PvP showdown. It’s one of the more stylish and tech-forward card battlers out there. With Crystal Fragments, the game brings its Web3 layer into view but only for those who want it. Players can join the fun without touching a blockchain, yet dedicated users gain access to a rich reward economy.

The Mechanics: Fragments, Caches, and Leaderboards

Here’s how it works: Engage with the game daily, complete quests, and earn Quantum Caches. Each cache yields random Fragment NFTs. These break down into shards or crystals, and once the token launches later in November, those fragments can be turned into Tickets for the $OVC airdrop or traded as NFTs. Meanwhile, leaderboards offer chances to earn $IMX tokens and other leaderboard-based incentives.

There’s a split between free and paid players, too. A Pilot Badge acts like a VIP pass, accessing improved loot tables and more lucrative fragment yields. Early buyers of a Badge may benefit most, as sales fund a communal reward pool.

Visibility and Pacing Through Seasons

Rather than a one-off competition, the event is carved into multiple “mini-seasons” with strategic breaks. That means players who miss one window get another shot. This pacing model lowers the pressure of chasing one long leaderboard and nurtures more consistent engagement over several weeks.

Play-to-airdrop models like this strike a balance between gameplay engagement and Web3 reward structures. Instead of passive token funnels, OverKnights ties value directly to player involvement and performance. That makes it part of a maturing trend in crypto gaming: tangible, earned rewards rather than speculative hype.
