Zen Studios is continuing to flesh out the Pinball FX VR library with more licensed content. This time, they’re pulling from Williams’ archive, bringing three well-known real-world machines into VR. For anyone who grew up around physical pinball or follows the digital pinball scene, these are familiar names — now playable in a very different setting.

The new DLC pack includes The Addams Family, Medieval Madness, and Theatre of Magic. All three have already appeared in Zen’s flat-screen versions of Pinball FX, but this is their first showing in the VR version. The release hits both Meta Quest and PC VR platforms, expanding an otherwise modest catalog.

Classic Tables, Now With Depth

Each table is a 1:1 recreation of its physical counterpart, complete with licensed artwork, voice lines, and mechanical quirks. The big difference here is presence. In VR, the machines feel like they’re in front of you — complete with reflective glass, ambient lighting, and spatial sound.

Zen isn’t trying to reinvent the format. The gameplay remains true to the originals, with no radical changes to rules or flow. What’s new is subtle: extra animated details around the table or themed backdrops that respond to your progress. They’re there to enhance the sense of place, not distract.

A Measured Approach to VR Enhancements

Unlike some of Zen’s earlier “remastered” VR pinball efforts, the additions in this DLC feel more restrained. You’ll see some background movement or small effects — floating candles, shifting skies — but it’s largely respectful of the original tables’ designs. That’s probably a good call for this batch, considering how iconic they are.

The Addams Family, in particular, has a lot of moving parts already. The designers haven’t overloaded it with unnecessary effects. Instead, the VR version focuses on clarity and atmosphere. That approach fits with the overall tone of the game: immersive, but not gimmicky.

Platform Support and What’s Still Missing

This pack is available on Meta Quest headsets and SteamVR. If you’re on PSVR2, you’re out of luck for now — the VR version of Pinball FX hasn’t been released on PlayStation yet. Zen hasn’t offered a clear roadmap for that either, though the flat version is already there.

Pinball FX VR still lags behind the flat version when it comes to content volume. That said, bringing over major licensed tables like these is a step toward parity. If Zen continues down this path, the VR version may eventually become more than just a novelty — it could be a fully fleshed-out platform for digital pinball.

A Familiar Formula That Still Works in VR

There’s nothing radical about this release, but that’s kind of the point. Zen is sticking with what works: accurate recreations of real tables, now wrapped in an immersive layer that makes them feel more tactile. For fans of the originals or anyone curious about how classic pinball translates to VR, this is another solid, if expected, update.

The bigger question is whether Zen can keep momentum going without fragmenting the experience across platforms and payment models. For now, though, this Williams pack does what it sets out to do — bring three fan favorites into a virtual space, and let them speak for themselves.
