Wuthering Waves is starting to hit its post-launch rhythm. The second phase of Version 1.4 brings more than just a new character—it continues to flesh out the game’s evolving structure with focused updates and limited-time events.
Kuro Games is clearly moving fast. Just weeks after release, the studio is already layering in more content aimed at both new players and returning gacha veterans. The emphasis this time is on character depth, new pulls, and engagement loops.
Yinlin joins as the new 5-star
The headline addition in Phase 2 is Yinlin, a new 5-star Electro Resonator. Visually distinct and mechanically tuned for high burst damage, she brings a flashy new playstyle built around chaining shock effects and controlling space.
Her drop comes alongside a new banner cycle, giving players access to a limited-time pull window that also includes targeted 4-star support picks. Like most high-tier characters in Wuthering Waves, she arrives with her own lore thread and specialized gear.
Whether she shifts the meta will depend on synergy builds, but early looks suggest she’s positioned as an offensive option for players seeking faster wave clears and burst rotations.
Events and limited rewards return
Phase 2 also introduces several time-sensitive events. The main one, “Thawborn Illusion,” adds a combat-focused challenge that rewards materials, upgrade items, and premium currency.
There’s also a new login event and mission series that stacks bonuses over several days. It’s a familiar cadence—log in, complete dailies, unlock timed goals—but the rewards are meaningful for players still building out their teams.
Beyond combat, smaller additions include temporary in-game cosmetics and resource bundles meant to ease progression. None of it overhauls the core loop, but it shows Kuro Games is pacing out engagement milestones between major updates.
Update cadence points to sustained support
The way Kuro Games is rolling out content mirrors trends from other live-service gacha titles. Small updates every two weeks, bigger patches every month or two. This keeps the player base engaged without flooding the game with too much at once.
There’s also a clear effort to refine the balance and pacing. Earlier criticism around grind and progression speed has led to tweaks in drop rates and mission structure. While it’s not a full rework, the studio appears to be adjusting based on early feedback.
Wuthering Waves is still in its early lifecycle, but Phase 2 of Version 2.4 suggests the team is listening and building.
